Humans are constantly seeking out a history for themselves, searching for their roots and gravitating towards the past. I myself, became obsessed with my cultural history in Cuba — this photo series is about what I discovered in Havana, my mother's birthplace. There, I was bound to strangers by blood and captivated by their stories of her childhood; these were my living ancestors. The experience was one of a life missed, the life I may have lived if her family had not left Cuba, a life very different from our own, for better or worse.
